From the origins of R Grout & Sons established in the 1960s to the Poyntell Ltd of today, we can trace our heritage back across the decades.

Director

Graeme has been involved with the door and security industry for over 25 years in project management, business management and key client management.

As a member of the institute of Architectural ironmongers, a Guild of Architectural Ironmongers Diploma holder and qualified under FDIS (Fire Door Inspection Scheme) Graeme has assisted numerous end users and contractors in providing both ‘off the shelf’ and bespoke solutions in all types of entrance, exit and ironmongery requirements. Graeme has lectured at the Master Locksmiths Association HQ in Daventry and appeared as an expert witness at the patent Court in London.

Formerly the head of the AC Division of Kaba Ltd and as the UK representative on a European product committee for Kaba he is experienced at Board level. Some of the notable clients being HM Treasury, The Parliamentary Estate, London Underground, Deutsche Bank, Chek Lap Kok Airport, Sizewell B Power Station and Brunel University.

Ian Grout DipFD
Technical Director

Ian has been a locksmith and door engineer since being born into the family locksmith business R Grout & Sons.

He has made a successful career specialising in anything that operates, secures, opens or fits to a door or window. Ian ran the family business for a number of years before it was acquired by Poyntell Ltd with Ian becoming Installations Director to oversee all aspects of quality, products and workmanship for all installations. Ian became a Master Locksmith in 1986 and has retained that status ever since. Ian is accredited both as a BM Trada Q-Mark Fire Door Installer as well as a BM Trada Q Mark Fire Door Maintainer, one of only a handful of such qualified professionals in the UK. In addition, he is a qualified ADSA (Automatic Door Suppliers Association) engineer and holds numerous accreditations with word leading security related manufacturers such as Assa, Abloy and Kaba Ltd.

With over 40 years of site experience Ian’s resume of project work is understandably vast but includes, amongst others varied sites such as MOD Sites, listed properties, Mental Health Secure Units, Educational establishments, Industrial sites, and a wide range of public and private commercial buildings.

In addition to his product/solution skills Ian is an accredited Health and Safety Supervisor under the CCNSG scheme and conducts regular training sessions with other members of the Poyntell team to impart his considerable knowledge.
