Senior Door Engineer (Site Based) Job

An experienced Door Engineer is required to join our expanding, specialist company which provides an exciting opportunity for the candidate to develop their career.

A site based role in Westminster, London you will be working as part of a highly skilled team delivering first class service to our client whilst enjoying the benefit of working in a unique, prestigious and interesting working environment. This role would suit an experienced engineer that has strong knowledge and experience of timber doors and the related ironmongery (closing mechanisms, locking systems etc) as well as a wider appreciation of other door types/ironmongery/operators.

The Role

A Westminster site based specialist engineer role dealing with reactive works, planned installs/maintenance and survey requirements for all aspects of doors and their associated hardware. The role involves work on bespoke systems and bespoke/heritage doors mainly constructed from timber. Work will be varied but will involve servicing, removing, replacing doors and ironmongery including door operators (both floor and overhead), hinges, locking devices etc. Door types and associated fitted parts will be interesting and varied.

Collaboration with the rest of our site team is expected and encouraged with works being a mix of single handed and double handed execution at the door as necessary.

All tools will be provided. Parts will be prepared and made available by others for you to complete works efficiently and effectively.

A smart phone/tablet is used on a daily basis for recording and distribution of job completion/job notes.

Site based in Westminster, London.

Requirements

This role requires an experienced door engineer with proven knowledge and verifiable practical skills. A sound practical knowledge and experience with door sets and associated ironmongery is a must along with good carpentry skills. Due to the bespoke nature of some of the work an interest in, and understanding of the workings of doors and the associated hardware will be required. A locksmith background may prove advantageous, experience of powered systems for doors would also be useful but not essential.

You will need to have the ability to be security cleared and to work in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

  • You will need to have good interpersonal skills coupled with excellent attention to detail.
  • At least 5 years’ experience.
  • Clean driving licence.
  • A desire to work in a small specialist team delivering market leading service.
  • A proven ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • An ability to work with various types of systems and solutions.
  • Health and safety compliant.

Hours

Full time position circa 8.00-17.00 Monday to Friday (some flexibility).

Remuneration: Good basic with O/T opportunities.
