Door Engineer – Fire Door Focused Job

Due to continued growth we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced door engineer to join our specialist company. Working only with selected commercial clients both in the South East and for planned project work in London we support, install and maintain all types of pedestrian commercial doors for our clients. We now require another professional engineer to join our team. To do so you will require a broad experience in pedestrian doorsets of all types but with a strong skill set focus on timber doors such as Fire doors and Heritage doors.

This role would suit an experienced, multi-talented pedestrian door engineer who has strong carpentry skills and is looking to work with a great team in an established, progressive company.

Experience Required

With an expanding project portfolio and client base we are always interested in professional engineers who have proven, deliverable experience in one of more of the following disciplines:

  • Fire Door Installation and Maintenance (Essential): We are certified for installation and maintenance of Fire doors so good experience in this area is required along with strong carpentry skills.
  • Installation and maintenance of other Door Types (IMPORTANT): Experience does not have to cover all door types but it is important to have experience in areas other than Fire doors. These could be any or all of doorsets such as metal, automatic/powered, security, glass, interlocking, turnstiles etc.
  • Door Hardware (IMPORTANT): Experience and knowledge of a broad range of ironmongery items such as door handles, locks, hinges, closers, signage etc.
  • Electrical Locking (DESIRABLE): Competence with electric strikes, electric locking, magnetic locking etc.
  • Access Control (DESIRABLE): Competence with general Access Control items such as readers, controllers and general wiring.

The Location

Based out of our Head Office in Cranbrook works cover Kent, Surrey, Sussex and London.

Requirements

Must have good interpersonal skills particularly when working with end users coupled with an attention to detail and professionalism. Must be computer literate.

  • This position will require security clearance that will involve historical checks by an independent body, please consider whether this would present a problem to you before applying.
  • Proven ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to propose products and solutions to a wide variety of door / locking issues.
  • A clean driving licence.
  • Health and safety compliance.

Hours

Full time position 8.00-17.00 Monday to Friday.

Remuneration: Good basic with O/T opportunities.
